How to Become a Member

What you will need

A commercial kitchen provides a safe, clean, licensed commercial space where businesses can produce food for public consumption. Because the food industry is highly regulated, businesses are required to have a number of business documents in order to cook in a commercial kitchen.

Here is a list of the five requirements that you’ll need to become a Member of The Kitchen Table Santa Fe. We’ve provided links to the resources needed to help you acquire these documents.

  • All businesses must have at least one employee who has a Food Manager’s certificate as required by the State of NM Health Department. Get certified with the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals.

    All employees must have a Food Handler’s certificate as required by the State of NM Health Department. (Exception - you do not need food handlers if you already have a food manager’s certificate) Get certified at The National Accreditation Board website.

    ServSafe also offers certification and training as another option. Visit the ServSafe website for more information.

  • A permit issued by the Health Department is necessary for you to operate a food-related business. Apply for a permit using our template with The New Mexico Environment Department.

  • A business license (from the City of Santa Fe or your local municipality). Apply for your Business License with the City of Santa Fe.

    A CRS number from the New Mexico Department of Taxation and Revenue. Apply for your CRS number online through the New Mexico Department of Taxation and Revenue.

  • A certificate of insurance showing a minimum of $1,000,000 commercial general liability. Members must have insurance for the duration of kitchen use, with The Kitchen Table Santa Fe named on its policy as an additional insured.

    We use State Farm for our insurance, but you can select any insurance agency of your choice. Contact State Farm here.

  • A security deposit of $200 is required to secure membership. The deposit is due at the time of signing the Member Agreement. We accept cash, credit cards, and checks.
